Organic Garden
& Vineyard

Our country lodge boasts a charming boutique vineyard and expansive potager garden, evoking the elegance of historic gardens with river stone-retained terraces.

Fruit trees scattered across the property offer a diverse range of fresh fruits throughout the growing seasons. We diligently maintain our organic vegetable garden to provide highly nutritious produce for our guests and ourselves to savor.

As guests arrive, they are welcomed by our vineyard, featuring sought-after older Chardonnay varieties managed by a local well known vinter Abel Wines, allowing for a unique tasting experience each year.

The lodge’s dining and drinking experiences are enriched by the plentiful and diverse produce from our grounds and the surrounding Tasman region of New Zealand.

Helipad Access
& Transport Services

The lodge property has a convenient helipad area a short walk from the lodge where our helicopter flying partners can land to collect guests for daily outings or onward travel.

We help you see as much of the region as possible - working with you and local partners we can also tailor your day, perhaps a bike ride in the morning, a sailing adventure and lunch on board into the Abel Tasman National Park in the afternoon and maybe a helicopter ride across the Kahurangi mountain ranges on the way home to the lodge. Please let us know early how we can make your time incredible during your stay.

Renting a car gives you the maximum flexibility to see the Tasman and Golden Bay regions, to stop where you wish, and of course drive across the rest of New Zealand. But many of our local service providers that enable your day of hiking, kayaking, boating, or helicopter rides can also provide pick up/drop off services where possible.

Fly-Fishing

Originally conceived as one of New Zealand’s premier fishing lodges, we proudly uphold this legacy by collaborating with expert local fly-fishing guides. These guides will collect guests early in the morning for an unforgettable fishing experience, taking you to pristine and often secret locations. Enjoy the thrill of the catch and a delicious packed lunch as part of your adventure.

Native Bush

Our property features a stunning, diverse New Zealand native bush trail located on the hill behind the lodge. Guests can enjoy a leisurely 20-minute stroll through native flora and fauna, often encountering unique NZ birds such as the fantail (piwakawaka, pronounced pee-waka-waka) or the majestic wood pigeon (kereru, pronounced care-ra-ru) whose flight sounds like B52 aircraft, or spot the colorful tui (too-eee) plummage.

River Walks & Plunges

With the Motueka river at our doorstep, guests can take a short 10-minute stroll to the river’s edge for a refreshing morning dip, a serene swim, or a relaxing sunbathing session on the riverbank.

You may also practice fly-fishing at dawn or dusk. While swimming is generally safe in the summer, children must always be supervised near the river.
